Some of the best football I have ever seen as a writer has taken place this year. It honestly makes me thank the ‘football Gods’ I get to write about this. Here are the winners and losers of the week.

Coming into the divisional round, the Kansas City chiefs were white hot. Many pundits were crediting the Chiefs staunch defense for their hot streak. In their last 11 games before the Chiefs matchup with the Patriots, the Chiefs only allowed 20+ points twice. However, to say that the New England Patriots did not give one crap is an understatement. From the opening whistle, Tom Brady and the Patriots offense did what they wanted, when they wanted, and how what they wanted.

27 points were put up as a result of the Patriots offense (and yes there were two Field goals) as they won 27-20 over the Kansas City Chiefs.

To be honest, no team played bad. Granted, the Steelers vs. Broncos game was probably the worst game played, but even that game to me was pretty good. If I had to pick one team I would pick Kansas City, only because Andy Reid still cannot manage the clock to save his life.

The Chiefs had the ball with 6:39 and needed 2 scores. So what do the Chiefs do? They waste 5:26 of the clock, basically taking themselves out of the game. I blame Andy Reid completely because we have seen this problem with him before. Granted it is not that simple, but when you are an NFL coach time management should be something a coach should know.

Yes, Tom Brady was efficient, 300+ yards passing and a win, but Ben Roethlisberger played with two torn shoulders; It was in a losing effort but it was still very inspiring.

The Steelers as a whole were ravaged by injuries. Obviously there was no Le’Veon bell, there was no Antonio Brown, and even DeAngelo Williams was out. Nevertheless, that did not stop Ben Roethlisberger from going 24/37 with 339 yard against the top defense in the NFL.

Unfortunately Ben could not find the end zone and also did not get any favours from the worst player of the week. The Steelers lost 23-16 to the Broncos.

Look, Fitzgerald Toussaint had a very tough night. 12 touches for 39 yards and could not find an open seam to save his life. Toussaint will unfortunately remember his fumble for the rest of his life. The Steelers had a 16-12 lead and were moving up the field, until Toussaint fumbled the ball. It was recovered by the Denver Broncos and the Broncos went the other way and scored.

As a result you could say that Toussaint was the reason the Steelers lost. If there is any constellation, he did get a touchdown. Now I want to stress that football is just a game, do not send anything scathing about Toussaint personality. With that said, in terms of that game, Toussaint’s mistake was back breaking.

Game of the Week

Do I even have to give this a preamble? The Packers vs Cardinals game was insanity. If you did not see it, I feel bad for you.

Surprise of the Week?

I was really shocked at the amount of dropped balls by the Denver Broncos receivers on Sunday, but then I thought back and realized I do not think this is a new phenomenon. So I did my research and turns out the Denver Broncos receivers are having a catching problem. Granted it’s not like Manning was zipping the balls to the Broncos receivers on a rope, but he was getting the ball out there and it will be interesting to see if that will affect them against the patriots.
