Public Service Announcement to NFL teams: It is almost time for the playoffs but that doesn't mean you should coast.
The division races in every division -- with the exception of the AFC East -- is so close right now which makes for some big plays from good players; that is makes them winners. Yes, stats usually dictates who won and who lost, but it's the moments people remember.
Best team of the Week
Arizona really does not get enough credit for what they do. They're a team of winners, and had they not have been derailed by injuries last year, they could have went all the way to the Super Bowl.
This year, they are healthy at the right positions and it shows. They took advantage of the Vikings last play jitters to hold on to their lead 23-20, marking their 11th win of the season. Currently, it looks like a Cardinals vs Panthers NFC Championship game is on the horizon, and to be honest, I really wouldn't mind seeing these two teams battle.
Worst Team of the Week
Take a look at the box score between the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars then come page to this page...
Saw it? Good.
Is there anything else I should say to explain why the Colts are the Worst team of the Week?
Yeah I didn't think so either.
Best Player of the Week
First off shout out to Odell Beckham Jr.
I am not a Tom Brady hater, but it's hard to deny that without Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots are really not that good. Granted, behind Gronkowski the next best receiving threat is Brandon LaFell, but it's still impressive how a tight end can be so dominant. Gronk only needed 4 catches to amass 87 yards and a touchdown.
I have come to the conclusion that no one can defend a Brady to Gronkowski connection, and if Gronkowski can stay healthy, than the Patriots won't be challenge until the Superbowl.
Worst Player of the Week
I don't want to wish bad on someone's career but, how does Matt Cassel still have a job in the NFL? His numbers against a suspect Green Bay Defense, was pitiful. 13/29, 114 yards, no touchdowns and 1 interceptions in a must win game.
If you watched the game, then you would also notice that Dez Bryant was open a lot and Matt Cassel just couldn't get him the ball. He can't throw down the field and has a major confidence issue 'pulling the trigger' right now.
Game of the Week
That Monday Night'er was why people like football. It was not perfect at all, however, Eli Manning clearly played his heart out, Odell Beckham Jr. could not be stopped, and their intensity was matched by a Miami squad who didn't have a reason to play hard.
This was a must win game for the Giants and they won 31-24. It was a good game of football and regardless of the mistakes that happened or the lack of an awe inspiring ending I still enjoyed the quality of the game.
Surprise of the Week
I did not see Denver Losing to Oakland being a possibility. Anything can happen in football but considering how Denver was rolling, it was weird seeing the Denver Offense unable to score. Oakland ended up winning 15-12
Game to watch next week
The Pittsburgh Steelers vs the Denver Broncos is the game to watch. Pittsburgh is becoming that team everyone is afraid to face because of their ridiculous offense. Denver's Defense is probably the best in the league today. It's the Classic offense vs Defense matchup.
