Welcome to a happy holiday edition of the weekend warriors. Even though it is Christmas and we are all winners for getting through the year, but on the field, there are still winners and losers we need to break down.
Best Team of the Week
What do good teams do? Besides win games they are brutal in, good teams win games that clinch their spot into the Superbowl playoffs and the Cowboys did that in emphatic fashion. The Cowboys beat up on a albeit rather unmotivated Colts squad by a score of 42-7. Everyone looked good even a one handed DeMarco Murray. Now while I'm not in the opinion that Tony Romo is an MVP candidate (not even close) I do believe that Tony Romo may have figured it out, and maybe just maybe, we will not see the hilarious quarterback error ending a Cowboys season we usually see from Tony Romo.
Worst Team of the Week
I know the Seattle Defense is downright legendary but it doesn't excuse how bad Arizona was. As a result Arizona lost a close 35-6 because those points were scored towards the end of the game. This should worry Arizona Cardinals fans because Ryan Lindley at quarterback is not even semi-decent and that's a problem.
Best player of the Week
It was a tough decision between Marshawn Lynch and Jeremy Hill but by virtue of Lynch being sick and doing what he did he should deserve the best player of the week more. 113 rushing yards in 10 carries because, quite frankly, the defense had no answer for him. Especially on that awe inspiring 79 yard run that wasn't exactly beastmode but was pretty good.
Worst Player of the Week:
Ryan Lindley was so bad. He was 18/44 for 216 yards. 40 percent completion percentage which is not even close to representing how many three and outs Lindley had. By the way honorable mention to Johnny Manziel and Arizona Cardinals running back Stepfan Taylor.
Game of the Week:
It is funny that out of all the games with playoff implications, it is the game that meant absolutely nothing that was the most entertaining from a pure football stance. The Minnesota Vikings vs. The Miami Dolphins fourth quarter was actually entertaining. Both teams were scoring left, right and centre and the game winner was a blocked punt that resulted in a safety.
Surprise of the Week:
Maybe I am a bit of an optimist but I really thought the Buffalo Bills was going to beat Oakland and hang in there. Unfortunately or fortunately they blew it on Sunday but I thought that the Buffalo Bills were good this season and maybe they can build on it for the seasons to come.
Playoff Sunday coming to a home near you. Couple that with NBA on Christmas and bowl games and this is the perfect storm for a sports fan.
