Numbers on the Board: Playoff Edition
The NBA had a great night of playoff basketball, in both East and Western conferences. Along with it being great games, there was also some great performances.
Good to see Derrick Rose resemble his usual self. D-Rose dropped 34 points, 8 dimes, 5 boards, 3 steals, and was 12-23 from the field in the Bulls' 113-106 victory over the Bucks. This was his best performance this season, marking a new season high, along with the first time he dropped 30+ in a playoff game since April 10th, 2011 (33 on the Hawks).
Bulls are up 3-0 in the series, but it could have easily went the other way. The Bulls were up 94-86 with 1:37 remaining, but blew the lead, only scoring 1 point in the final minute while the Bucks went on 9-0 run. In overtime, the Bucks had the ball with 18 seconds left but couldn't capitalized. Bulls would outcore the Bucks 12-5 in the period.
Bronny went bonkers in the Cavs' 103-95 victory. He gave the Boston crowd an agonizing show, dropping 31 points, 11 boards, 4 dimes, 4 steals, 2 blocks, and was 13-26 from the field. Jae Crowder let the media use his words as gas to fuel LeBron, who Crowder had the pleasure of checking. No player in the league should be intimidated by an opposing player, but the best player in the world might take offense to you saying he's "not intimidating". As you can see, Bronny felt some type of way, giving Crowder everything he needed.
The Celtics made this an entertaining game though. They never backed away from the challenge, even sparking some shoving matches. You can tell they're not scared, but the Celtics just don't have enough firepower to match the Cavs. Kevin Love had himself a good performance, going 6-10 from behind the arc, scoring 23 points. He was the X-factor tonight and I think he will to play like this for the Cavs to have a deep run.
Anthony Davis had a good night, 29 points, 15 boards, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. If the Pelicans would have won, this would have been a great night, but Chef Curry had something to say about that.
Not sure how many players can give you 40 points only hitting 10 shots from the field. Steph wasn't very efficient, 10-29 from the field & 7-18 from behind the arc, but this was a great night for him, and probably his greatest. Sometimes you have to look beyond the numbers and this is one of those times.
