For all my ladies who are dating a sports fanatic, this one is for you. This is for those beautiful Sunday afternoons when you’d love to go out and enjoy the nice weather but his eyes are glued to the million football games that come on. This is for those nights where you just want to cuddle and watch a movie but he can’t put the video game controller down. And this is for those times his friends blow up his phone to have unnecessarily long conversations about the side of sports we don’t even know exist lol.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a good game of football when my Ravens are playing, or watching my Orioles kick ass (hey Adam!) and even an occasional basketball game; but there comes a point when enough is enough. Too many days have gone by where I find myself planted on the couch, watching games of teams I don’t care about and listening to my guy and his friends discuss stats that are completely irrelevant to my life. It drives me crazy sometimes! But there are a few ways that can make it easier to turn sports time into quality time.

-Compromise. I agree to let him watch a few games during the weekend, granted I get to do something I enjoy as well. Whether it be a fun date, a nice cooked meal, or a night of complete pampering. Come up with something he can do for you to make up for the time he spent with his eyes glued to the screen.

-Make him watch something he doesn’t like that you do. Sometimes after a long day of watching games I have no interest in, I make him lay back and watch Sex and the City or a good Lifetime movie. Although he typically despises these things, it’s fun to watch him get all into it. Nice change from watching men running each other over all day.

-If you can’t beat him, join him! It turns the game into more bonding time for you guys, and maybe you'll realize you actually like watching it too. If you don’t understand what you’re watching, ask questions. More than likely he’ll be happy that you’re actually interested and explain it so that you can understand. And when it comes to Madden, 2K, and whatever other game they come up with, pick up the controller and learn how to play so good you whoop his butt and make him want to turn it off anyway :P

So ladies, I hope this helped. A little letter to you all to let you know you’re not alone. But it’s ok, let your guy enjoy a little sport time. Even if you have to sneak in a little kiss in between plays, it can really be a good chance to spend some time together. And remember, a happy boyfriend can make for an even happier girlfriend 😏
