Tim Lincecum will never be able to visit San Diego after he retire. Lincecum who turned 30 on June 15th, threw his second no-hitter in a year against the same team, San Diego Padres. Lincecum used 113 pitches and 6 strikeouts to retire, 27 of 28 batters (walked Chase Headly in the 2nd inning). Lincecum also needed a great diving catch from Hunter Pence in right field to keep his no-hitter in-tact. Lincecum is only 6-5 on the season with 4.42 ERA in 15 starts. Just like last year this is another feel good game for Lincecum who fell off drastically after 2010, struggling to get his control back. Still Lincecum has the juice and stuff to help a team win in the postseason, reason why the Giants never got rid of him.
As much as the experts question whether or not Argentina will last relying on Messi, Messi keeps proving that they can depend on him. In his 2 previous World Cup appearances, Messi only scored 1 time in 8 games. So far this year he has 4 goals in 3 games, averaging a distance of 22 yards. So not only is he scoring but he is scoring from long range. Messi got his revenge today against Nigeria's goalie, Victor Enyeama - who denied Messi numerous in their 2010 World Cup battle - with 2 goals on 3 shots. Messi right now is unstoppable so offensively I think Argentina is fine. Defensively they will need to make adjustments before their match against Switzerland Tuesday.
This was not a power move by the Knicks. This will not make them a championship contender next year. This will not be the move that keeps Melo in NY. This move lets us know, Phil is has something in the works. Some people see this as a bad move for the Knicks because they have to take on Jose Calderon $7 million contract but they're getting rid of Raymond Felton. Felton has not produced anything for the Knicks the past couple season and he may just need a change of scenery. Same thing with Tyson Chandler except he is going back to where he came from. Ever since the series against the Pacers in 2013, Tyson seemed to have lost his defensive edge. He already was a liability on the offensive end because he couldn't score but now he has become a liability of defense also. Both of these players will eventually get their mojo back but its best they both find it with another team.
These 4 games will spark off the knockout round and I can't wait. As you can see, we will see 4 of the best nations in South America on Saturday with CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) going against Europe on Sunday. All 4 matches will be epic but the one I am most excited to see is Brazil vs. Chile. Brazil and Chile have looked to be the fastest teams in this year's World Cup and I see this as the perfect match up. Netherlands and Mexico will also be a battle of forces, Mexico's stout defense and Netherland's powerful offensive attack. Keep your eye on Columbia also, their young and have some great ball skills, I would like to see them play Brazil also.
Congrats to the Vanderbilt Baseball squad for winning the 2014 College World Series. This is only the second championships in all sports for Vandy, Women's bowling team winning it all in 1964.
