Congressman Hakeem Jefferies Supports Black Athletes on House Floor

Congressman, Hakeem Jefferies (D-NY) used his platform to defend the athletes that were attacked by president Trump Monday.

Jefferies spoke on the House floor to show support for LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick, and Mike Tomlin, confirming they have support in the House of Congress. Jefferies compared those named to sports legends such as Bill Russell, Jackie Robinson, Joe Louis and much more who fought against social injustices during their playing careers. 

Jefferies represents New York's 8th Congressional District in Brooklyn and Queens. He was a corporate lawyer before taking office in 2007. Jefferies is from the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. He graduated from Binghamton University with Honors and has his masters degree in Law from Georgetown.
