Harvest Season is a movie in itself. A well composed mixtape to help you grow your hustle, whatever it may be. Life is an everyday hustle and this is our soundtrack to it.
I am a big fan of lyrical rappers, in fact that is all I really want to listen too. In no way shape or form is Future a lyrical rapper, but he has developed his own sound and created a lane for other Atlanta based rappers to prospered from. Since he has been in the game, Future has made a name for himself, dropping hit after hit, and currently with two of the hottest mixtapes out right now, he has propelled himself to the top of the rap game.
We've put together a track list that will guide you through the summer time but also give you an idea of what we like. Strictly for the people who love bars because that's all you'll hear on here. We hope you all will enjoy what we have put together. We didn't just throw a bunch songs on a playlist and called it a mixtape. We put time into this and used our brains. Listen to the stories, follow where the mixtape is going, and pay attention to the different vibes you get throughout the tape.
*We also have 4 Baltimore Artist featured on here, Rich E. Rheu (Track 4), TYE (Track 12) LOS (Track 19) and The Raw Deal (Track 22).*
J.Cole has been at the top of the rap game for a few years now but still I don't think he get the credit he deserves. Coming in the game around the same time as Drake, Meek Mill, Big Sean, Big Krit, and a few others who saved Hip-Hop, for me, I always related to Cole more than any of them. Listening to Cole, it always felt like he robbed me of my thoughts, cause everything he spits, is exactly what I'm thinking and feeling. As you listen to this tape, you'll hear exactly where my thoughts are, just through the bars of the great J.Cole, Enjoy.
This is our first tape, "1of1s Tape", which dropped in January 2014. Not many people heard this one but if you have a CD copy, declare yourself a day 1 supporter.
Here at Fan-i, we judge mixtapes and albums by the "No Skip" rule. A great mixtape or album is one that you can let play and not touch until its over. KushxOJ passed that test and still to this day I can listen to this classic without skipping a song. For the 5th anniversary, we combined all 20 tracks into one, giving it a more smoother transition from song to song. ENJOY.
This was the battle before the 2013 rematch between these two lyrical assassins. This was also the battle that put Clips into the top tier of battle rappers.
We combined our interviews with some of the best players in the country at the DICK'S Nationals (including Ben Simmons, Jessie Govan, Allonzo Trier, Jaylen Brown, Dwayne Bacon, and a bonus from Ohio State standout, Deangelo Russell) with Fabolous latest freestyles. Just another fun tape from the Fan-i Lab, take a listen.
One of my favorite battles right here. Battle rap has come a long way since this 2003 classic. Now a days, battles are on stage in a large venue with round card girls, light shows, microphones, and many other things that make it a spectacle. In early days of Battle rap, there were no mics, battles took place at local parks and stores, and usually happened on the spot, as long as both spittas had bread to put up.
Mook and Millz have grown their careers since this classic. Millz has been signed under Young Money Ent since 2010 while Mook has become one of the greatest, if not the greatest, battle rapper ever.
Battles like this is what help propel the SMACK brand to the top of the Battle Rap market. What once started in the parks, corners, and stores of New York City, has become a staple in the Hip-Hop culture.
Kendrick Lamar will release his 3rd Studio Album, titled "To Pimp A Butterfly" March 23rd, finally giving fans a date to look forward too. K.Dot and the TDE camp hasn't put too much info out about this album, still leaving the anticipation high. The tracklist was released but only 1 track has a title while the other 15 tracks are unnamed. Even though I would love to have more information about the album, I can appreciate K.Dot's approach to this one.
Here is the video for the lone titled track, The Blacker The Berry:
