James Madison won the season series with Hofstra, defeating them twice. Ron Curry of JMU, dropped 20 in both games, marking his career high January 24th with 25 points. Unfortunately for the Dukes, the term "Third times a charm" was in the Pride's favor.
Hofstra advances to the semi-final round to play William & Mary, defeating the Dukes 74-57. Like the first two games, this was also a game of runs. In the first half both teams went on runs of their own, creating a back and forth game. JMU fell behind 15-10 in the first 5 minutes of the game, before going on a 10-0 run led by Sophomore Serbian, Dimitrije Cabarkapa, who hit two 3s on that run. Cabarkapa tied his season high with 12 points.
Hofstra would answer with their own 10-run while JMU went scoreless for 3:45. They then followed it with 12-4 run that gave them a 37-24 lead with three minutes remaining in the game. JMU would end the half with a 9-2 run, trailing 33-39.
In the second half it was Hofstra. Hofstra was 15-27 from the field while JMU went 9-20. Big man Moussa Kone of Hofstra, was a force in the middle, scoring 12 of his 18 points in the second half, also finishing with 11 boards, his 3rd double-double of the season. Hofstra guards played a big role in Kone scoring, dishing him the rock off the dribble penetration. Juan'Ya Green led all players with 8 dimes.
