The season is coming down to the wire with teams fighting for pennants and wild card races. You will see how good your team really is and Angels pitcher Jered Weaver showed the Rangers just how good he really is. Weaver pitched 7 strong innings facing one of MLB’s strongest batting lineups only allowing 3 runs which came in the third inning. Jered Weaver also struck out two batters to help him not only move to 18-4 on the season but receive his 100th win of his career. By Weaver receiving the win moved him to a tie with Tampa Bay’s pitcher David Price for most wins in the A.L. Weaver team-mates helped him come back trailing 3-1 to score 8 runs in the fourth inning which was caused by Rangers catcher Mike Napoli mis-reading the ball with the bases loaded which brought the two lead changing runs home. The Angels with a 5-3 lead in the same inning scored four more runs starting with 1st baseman Kendrys Morales hitting a RBI single to make it 6-3, then after scoring off of a sacrifice fly-out 3rd baseman Alberto Callaspo hit a double to bring team-mate Howard Kendrick home to make the score 9-3. By winning the Angels have moved to a close 3 1/2 games back from the Oakland Athletics in the A.L Wilcard race who were routed by the Detroit Tigers 12-2. The Angels just have to continue to win to stay alive and if the A’s can lose the series to the Tigers the Angels might can steal their spot in the wildcard. The Rangers pitcher Ryan Dempster moved to 6-2 on the season after that 4 inning struggle put his team away from winning. Angels batter Mike Trout will need to turn it up a little more with Mr. $250 million dollar man Albert Pujols being in somewhat of a slump being 1-11 in his last three games in which Albert did not play last night catering to his wife who gave birth to their 5th child. The Angels moved their head to head match-up record with the Texas Rangers to 8-6 on the season as they won 11-3. The Angels will have to get it done tonight again against the Texas Rangers and will need pitcher C.J Wilson to contain the hitting power from guys like Mike Napoli, Nelson Cruz, and Ian Kinsler if the Angels want to try catch the A’s in the A.L Wilcard.
