The San Antonio Spurs put the custodian uniforms on last night as they gave the Utah Jazz “clean up on aisle 4″ using brooms and mops to sweep them in the first round of the playoffs as they ended the series in game 4. The Jazz fought back with the chance to force it to game 5 but the defense and will of the Spurs rose to the occasion to close it out and win 87-81. This time last year the Spurs were struggling in a series with the Memphis Grizzlies, in which they would lose 4-2 in the series, with the consideration that Tim Duncan knees were bad and too much was put into the regular season where they finished in first in the west with the best record in the NBA. This year we finished first in the West again but the difference is Coach of the Year Greg Popovich did a great job with the rotation of veterans like Timmy D, Manu Ginobli, and Tony Parker to have them at full strength and ready to compete for another championship which I think the Spurs have a great chance. Tony Parker, who is having a MVP year, is averaging 18 points and 7 assists in the regular season, and 21 points, and 6.5 assist in the post-season. The Spurs offense has been very efficient so far in the playoffs shooting 48% as a team from inside the trey line and 40% from the behind the arc which are good numbers considering its the playoffs where the intensity on offense and defense is all the way up because its lose or go home. From the looks of it my Spurs will face Lob City in the second round which will be a battle and not easy but with the defense and offensive scoring tare that the Spurs are executing, it should get them pass the Clippers.
