After playing 115 minutes Thursday night, the Caps and Rangers faced off Saturday night for another nail bitter. The Caps won 3-2 thanks to Mike Green’s go ahead power play goal in the 3rd period. Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist said he didn’t even see the pick and just guess on where it would be. The Caps are now 3-0 after OT losses this postseason. This game was much needed for the Caps, who could of been facing a 3-1 series deficit heading back to MSG. Another interesting stat, this is the 13th time Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Green all scored in the same game, each time resulting in a win. All 3 players were 1st round picks and are known for filling up the stat sheet for the Caps. But this is not the same Offensive minded Caps team from before. It’s all about DEFENSE this go around. Forward Brook Liach commented on the new found identity saying,”We’re a grinding team now. Our identity has kind of flipped. We try not to give up much defensively, keep pucks out of the middle and along the boards, and we’ve been successful with that.” 10 out of the 11 Caps playoffs games this year have been decided by 1 point, very nerve wracking if your a fan. The series is now tied at 2 and we are looking at a best of 3 series now. Game 5 is Monday night in New York.
