The Perfect Fan Experience

Capitalized

Well the DMV can have a quick sigh of relief thanks to Joel Ward OT goal, giving the Caps a 2-1 victory and the series over the Bruins Wednesday night. Joel scored off the rebound, putting it right through Tim Thomas legs. This was Joel first career playoff goal and it couldn’t come at a better time. The Capitols will now await there opponent in the Eastern Conference Semis, which they will find out who that is Thursday night. This game like the whole series very entertaining and close. In this series, each game has been decided by 1 goal and 4 of those games went into OT. The Capitols struck first in the 1st period when Matt Hendricks put the puck pass Thomas shoulder and in the back of the net. The lone Bruin goal wouldn’t come until the 5 minute mark in the 2nd period, when Tyler Seguin made a great play on the puck. After Braden Holtby (who had 31 saves) stopped a shot that trickled into the crease, Seguin fought through two Caps’ defenders to push the puck in the net. From there it look like the Bruins would use that momentum somehow take the game. The Capitols also got this W without major contribution from star player Alex Ovechkin who only played 16 minutes. Alex is definitely not pleased with his low playing but they winning so he can only be but so mad. This year Caps team seem to be a lot more focused than teams from the previous two years. Now playing more team defense and with rookie goalie Braden Holtby, I think the Caps can make some more noise in the playoffs. And knocking the defending champs out is always a confidence booster.
